In 2009, following the amendment of CSA Standard C22.2 No. 46, Stelpro implemented a proactive prevention program to ensure the safety of its construction heaters manufactured between January 2000 and April 2009. Since April 2009, Stelpro products have been manufactured in accordance with the new standard and are safe.
Ten years on, the entire industry is conducting a recall for the same reason on the same units, for construction heaters manufactured with heating elements supplied by CCI. These elements were used in construction heaters produced by many manufacturers, including some Stelpro models. The units concerned pose an electric arcing and fire risk. The industry public safety notice is available online.
